A weakened horse was left in front of a residential building on Street A in the Bela Vista neighborhood, in the city of Santarem, located in the western part of the state of Paraná.
The animal is in a severe state of weakness: it tries to stand up but cannot remain on its feet and falls to the ground.
This situation attracted the attention of a local resident, who requested assistance because she did not know how to safely support the animal. She shared her concern over the horse's suffering but feared approaching it due to the unknown reaction of the animal. There are concerns that the horse is suffering from hunger, thirst, and needs urgent veterinary care.
In Santarem, reports of animal cruelty and abandonment can be submitted to the Municipal Department of Environment's Anonymous Tip Service (Semma) by calling (93) 99209-4670.
Experts advise against attempting to help the animal independently without technical support to avoid aggravating possible injuries and preventing accidents.
Acts of abuse, cruelty, harm, or mutilation of animals are a crime in Brazil, according to Federal Law No. 9.605/1998.
The g1 editorial team contacted Semma to inquire about the measures that will be taken to save the horse and awaits a response.
