Iranian Ambassador calls on Indian businesses to expand trade with Tehran amid US sanctions

Tehran has appealed to Indian enterprises to continue and increase trade ties despite pressure from American sanctions, which restrict the activities of Indian companies involved in trading Iranian oil and petrochemical products.

The Iranian Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fatali, told TOI that sanctions and payment issues have negatively affected trade, and prices for some goods in Iran have risen for ordinary citizens. Nevertheless, he denied concerns about critical shortages.

Fatali emphasized that Iran is prepared for possible disruptions and possesses numerous import channels. He stated that he does not expect the difficulties to lead to a shortage of essential goods, including Indian basmati rice, which is a major Indian export to Iran.

The ambassador added that the price increase reflects broader economic pressure, rather than supply shortages.
