As part of the 2026 Accessibility Pilgrimage, children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) led the carriage of Our Lady of Nazareth during a procession that started from the Sanctuary Square at 8 am.
This pilgrimage was organized by the Nazareth Festivity Directorate (DFN) and was established in August 2023; in 2026, it will reach its fourth edition. The goal of the event is to expand the participation of people with disabilities in religious processions.
Among the measures aimed at ensuring inclusivity, translators for Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), audio description, support points, and noise-canceling devices for people with autism were provided.
The carriage is decorated with floral arrangements
The carriage accompanying the Accessibility Pilgrimage and the Festivity Procession was decorated by artist Gian Slaviero. This project transforms the vehicle into a kind of garden, using pink, lavender, and white flowers. The composition includes gerbera daisies, roses, pinocchio, boca-de-leão, and lemonium. This same carriage participates in both stages of the religious program Cirio de Nazaré.
