The new film by superstar Rajanakanth, 'Jailer 2', has surpassed the combined domestic collections of 'Border 2' and 'Hanuman Ansh'. Despite a slight dip in earnings on the second Friday, this action-thriller has reached a significant milestone.
Collection pace slowed after the holiday break due to reduced cinema attendance. However, it is expected that revenue will increase again with the start of the second weekend, bringing it closer to the next domestic benchmark.
According to Sacnilk data, 'Jailer 2' earned 14.50 crore rupees (net) on its ninth day in India. Thus, the film's total domestic earnings over nine days reached 348.85 crore rupees, which is very close to the 350 crore rupee mark. The film's worldwide gross was 628.05 crore rupees.
The initial domestic earnings for the film in India, based on 15,887 shows, amounted to 59.70 crore rupees (net). Advance bookings began on October 10, five days before the film's release, and by the end of October 14, the film had exceeded 80 crore rupees globally.
In the first week alone, the film collected 300 crore rupees (net) in India. By the end of the first week, its total domestic net collection stood at 334.35 crore rupees. After the ninth day's collections, this amount increased to 348.85 crore rupees.
With these new figures, 'Jailer 2' has overtaken two other major releases. The film 'Border 2' earned approximately 329 crore rupees, while 'Hanuman Ansh' brought in 339 crore rupees. Rajanakanth's film has surpassed the combined earnings of these two movies.
There is hope that the film's revenue will accelerate during the second weekend. If the business grows, the domestic collection could approach 380 crore rupees.
'Jailer 2', written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, was produced under the 'Sun Pictures' banner by Kalinidhi Maran. It is a sequel to the film 'Jailer', released in 2023. Rajanakanth returns alongside Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirna, and Ritwik, who reprise their roles from the first part.
S.J. Surya, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan also feature in this sequel. Mohanlal, Shiv Prakash, and Jackie Shroff return in cameo roles.
