Artificial lake and park planned for Uchtep district of Tashkent

Construction work has begun on creating an artificial lake and recreation area on a vacant plot of land covering 90 hundredths of a hectare in the Uchtep district of Tashkent. The project is scheduled for completion by December.

The Uchtep district administration reported that this territory is located in the 11th quarter of the Kurgantepa mahalla, between state preschool institutions No. 340 and No. 346.

The planned lake will cover 37 hundredths of a hectare and will have a depth of two meters. Abdulla Ardiyev, head of the construction department of the district administration, specified that the body of water will receive water from two sources: an irrigation canal running along the street and an underground well. Swimming in the lake is prohibited; the main goal of creating the reservoir is to improve the local microclimate and reduce dust levels.

Currently, 66 decorative trees of various species are on the site and will be preserved. Additional trees will also be planted. Pedestrian paths will be laid around the lake, and a recreation area, including a pavilion, benches, and landscaped green zones, will be established nearby. The project is designed to take two months.

Local residents have positively received this initiative. Umida Tukhtamishueva noted that there is currently dust and noise, but in the future, residents will be able to enjoy the result. Merinisa Tukhtamishueva emphasized that elderly people, who find it difficult to walk long distances, will have the opportunity to rest near home, and children will gain a new place to play. Vugar Suleymanov called the project a positive initiative for the mahalla and thanked everyone involved in its implementation.
