Delegations from Uzatom and Rosatom inspected the construction site of the city of atomists in Uzbekistan

Representatives from Uzatom and Rosatom conducted a joint working trip to the territory where the city of atomists is being built, located in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region. During the visit, the parties discussed the progress in implementing the integrated new generation NPP project and plans for creating the necessary urban infrastructure.

According to information provided by the Uzatom press service, this trip took place on October 22. The city is being designed on a 200-hectare plot, following eco-urbanism principles. Currently, work is underway there to build residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.

It is planned that the city will accommodate almost 33 thousand residents, providing them with about 10 thousand apartments. The infrastructure will include energy-efficient multi-story buildings, as well as educational, healthcare, sports, cultural institutions, as well as recreation areas and green spaces.

The delegations also inspected the site of the future NPP, paying close attention to safety issues, compliance with environmental standards, and the overall quality of the work being performed. Construction of external infrastructure is proceeding in parallel, which includes 388 kilometers of power lines, a 110 kV substation, 21 kilometers of drinking water pipelines, 120 kilometers of technical pipelines, as well as 39.5 kilometers of roads and 11 kilometers of railway tracks.

The concept of the city of atomists envisions the creation of a high-tech zone equipped with smart grids, data centers, and energy storage systems. The goal of the entire project is to increase energy sustainability, create new jobs, and improve the standard of living of the population.

Additionally, on October 23, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the CEO of the Russian corporation Rosatom, Alexey Likhachyov. During this meeting, the construction of the first integrated nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan and the development of related infrastructure using modern technologies were discussed.
