ICC to investigate Bangladeshi spinner Alis al-Islam's delivery after doping allegations

The career of Bangladeshi spinner Alis al-Islam has faced difficulties immediately after his debut in the ODI format. His bowling action was deemed suspicious, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) initiated an independent review of his bowling motion in accordance with ICC standards.

The 29-year-old Alis al-Islam debuted in the ODI on October 21 in Sharjah against Afghanistan. In this match, he bowled 47 runs in 8.3 overs but failed to take a single wicket. Match officials expressed concern regarding the legality of his delivery, which led to an investigation by the ICC.

Alis al-Islam's bowling action will be assessed at an ICC-approved certified testing center. This check will determine whether the angle of his elbow flexion during the delivery is within the established rules. According to ICC regulations, the arm swing when releasing the ball must not exceed 15 degrees.

However, the presence of complaints about suspicious movement does not imply automatic accusation against the player. The final decision will be made based on the results of the independent investigation. Until the assessment is complete, Alis al-Islam may continue to play international cricket.

In domestic cricket, Alis al-Islam is known for his mysterious spin and carrom balls. In the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), he took 39 wickets in 35 matches, and in List-A cricket, 35 wickets in 20 matches. In the last format, his best performance was 6 wickets for 21 runs conceded.

Adis al-Islam also debuted in a T20 International against Sri Lanka during the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. The questions raised regarding his bowling technique after his ODI debut have become critically important for his future international career.

Balancing players of Afghanistan helped secure a draw in the match against Bangladesh

The sole test match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh held in Abu Dhabi ended in a draw. The match, which began on October 9, concluded on October 13.

The batsmen of Afghanistan, Kais Ahmad and Yamin Ahmadi, played a crucial role in this confrontation, helping to turn a potential victory for Bangladesh into a draw. At one point, it seemed that the Bangladesh team would easily prevail.

Initially, Bangladesh scored 346 runs in the first innings. In response, Afghanistan managed to score only 240 runs. After this, Bangladesh declared the innings closed, reaching 372 runs while losing seven wickets. Thus, a huge task was set before the Afghan team—to score 479 runs.

However, the Afghan team batted for 142 overs in the second innings and managed to finish the game with a score of 346/8, securing the draw.

During the game, Bangladesh managed to reduce Afghanistan's score to 321 runs, losing seven wickets. Nevertheless, it was Kais Ahmad and Yamin Ahmadi who were able to hold this score. Bay-run dispute during India vs West Indies match draws attention of captain Shai Hope

During the third T20 match between India and West Indies, held at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, a major dispute arose concerning the umpires' decision.

The captain of the Caribbean team, Shai Hope, and Roston Chase strongly objected to one of the umpire's decisions. This heated argument erupted over a bay-run, creating a tense atmosphere during the game.

The situation occurred when bowler Shar Joseph bowled a slow ball towards Prince Yadav, missing the off-stump. The Indian batsman attempted to hit the ball, but it missed the bat and went directly towards wicketkeeper Shai Hope.

After this, Shai Hope returned the ball to bowler Joseph, but he was unable to catch it. As soon as the ball went far away, the Indian batsmen ran and completed an over, which the field umpire counted as a bay-run.

West Indies players argued that the runners could not take runs because the ball was being returned from the wicketkeeper to the bowler, and the game was officially stopped. Captain Shai Hope addressed sharp questions about this decision to umpire Virender Sharma, while Roston Chase spoke to umpire Jairaman Madanagopal.

Nevertheless, the umpires explained that the ball had not been declared dead up to that point, so the over was considered fully valid. After the umpires remained unwavering in their decision, the situation calmed down, and the game resumed.

In the atmosphere of intense passion, the Indian team batted first and scored an impressive total of 223 runs in 20 overs.

Players such as Abhishek Sharma contributed to this victory, demonstrating brilliant play by scoring 69 runs off just 30 balls, and Ishan Kishan, who added 37 runs off 18 balls. Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy (21 runs) and Akshar Patel (20 runs) also provided significant support to the team.
