Uzbekistan allows the use of digital documents in banks and airports

In Uzbekistan, citizens are now permitted to present digital copies of documents instead of paper originals when receiving a range of services in the banking sector, notary offices, telecommunications, and other institutions. The Ministry of Justice reported that these changes were introduced through amendments to 33 departmental regulations.

Digital documents, accessible via the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services my.gov.uz and the 'Ijtimoiy karta' (Social Card) mobile application, can be used in place of paper counterparts. These documents include biometric passports, identity cards, birth and marriage certificates, pension statements, disability certificates, war veterans' certificates, and student tickets.

In banks, digital documents allow for identity verification when using services and conducting certain financial transactions. Furthermore, they are accepted at notaries' offices for carrying out relevant procedures, as well as at airports when checking in for domestic flights within Uzbekistan.

Paper documents will also no longer be required when applying for compensation for war veterans, signing telecommunication service contracts, or at pawnshops, when donating blood or its components for donor identification, and when receiving paid services in medical and social institutions.

Digital versions of documents can also be used for military registration and access to other specific services. Uzbekistan began implementing unified digital services for identification data and some other documents in 2025.
