ICICI Bank announces increase in savings account fees, changes effective December 1, 2026

The private bank ICICI Bank has announced an increase in fees for clients holding savings accounts, as well as the introduction of new rules for certain services. These changes will take effect on December 1, 2026.

Under the new regulations, fees for specific operations will increase. Additionally, a penalty will be imposed for failed electronic debit payments. ICICI Bank customers are advised to review the updated rules.

Starting December 1, after exceeding the monthly limit, the fee for depositing cash at bank branches and ATMs in some savings accounts will increase from 3.50 to 4 rupees per every 1000 rupees. This change also applies to cash withdrawals. However, three cash transactions will remain free.

If a customer performs more than three cash transactions in a month, a fee of 150 rupees will be charged for each such transaction. The value-based fee will not apply to cash transactions up to 100,000 rupees per month. However, after exceeding the set limit, the customer will have to pay either 4 rupees per every 1000 rupees or 150 rupees per transaction.

If a customer remains within the established monthly limits for the number and amount of transactions, new operations will not incur an additional fee.

There will also be changes to penalties for reversing debit payments through Electronic Clearing Service (ECS) and National Automated Clearing House (NACH). A penalty will only be applied if the debit reversal is due to a financial reason, such as insufficient account balance.

Furthermore, a fee of 500 rupees will be charged for the first reversal. For the second and third reversal, a penalty of 550 rupees will be levied for each instance. This penalty will affect customers who have regular payments, such as monthly loan installments from a savings account or other automatic debits. The penalty will not be charged if there is a sufficient balance in the account.
