TravClan, a business technology company in the travel sector, announced on Thursday that it has raised $5 million in funding. Investors included the e-commerce platform Flipkart and August One, while Trifecta Capital provided debt financing.
Thanks to this round, the total amount of funds raised by TravClan from investors now exceeds $11 million. Other investors include Leo Capital, The Ventures, Hashed, August One, Flipkart, and a group of well-known private investors.
The capital raised will be used by the company to deepen its global supply network, expand its technological and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, and strengthen operations across various segments in key international markets. TravClan enters into contracts with hotels and event partners and manages its own ground teams in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and India.
According to the company itself, over 15,000 travel agents in India use TravClan to book flights, hotels, events, and destination services. Approximately 40 percent of the company's business now comes from second and third-tier cities.
TravClan processes an annual volume of travel sales exceeding $100 million through a network of more than 15,000 travel agents in India and provides comprehensive destination services in over 18 markets.
On the fundraising comments
Arun Bagaria, co-founder and CEO of TravClan, commented on the funding, stating that the next generation of travel software will not just help sellers find information faster, but will increasingly perform the work for them. He noted that the company's goal is to become the infrastructure upon which any travel business can build, rather than building the entire travel stack itself. This capital will allow aggressive investment in this opportunity.
Sahil Kukreja, Vice President of Trifecta Capital, spoke about the company's model, noting that TravClan has built a capital-efficient model by owning supplies rather than buying demand, and distributing services through agents in underserved markets. He expressed satisfaction with the company's support at this growth stage.
Rajul Garg, founder and managing partner of Leo Capital, added that they supported the company when owning supplies seemed like a slow way to develop. He emphasized that this led to two positive outcomes—improved pricing and the fact that the trip actually works if something goes wrong. In the travel industry, he believes that whoever owns the supplies controls the economy.
