Following the initial launch of the Kia Tasman in Brazil, the automaker has introduced a new top-tier version: the Kia Tasman PGL. This new model starts at a price of R$ 319,990.
This version represents an increase of R$ 70 thousand compared to the Tasman GL, which was presented in August for R$ 249,990 and was the only option of the model available in the country until then. The pickup marks Kia's entry into the mid-size pickup segment, a market currently dominated by models such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Chevrolet S10.
The distinction between the PGL version and the previous one lies primarily in the equipment, as the mechanics remain identical. It features a 2.2 turbodiesel engine, generating 210 hp and 45 kgfm, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 4x4 traction with a low range.
The most significant feature added to the top-of-the-line version is the advanced driving assistant package, known as the ADAS package, which was not present in the entry-level version. This set of systems includes adaptive cruise control, as well as aids for maintaining and centering the vehicle in the lane.
Additionally, the package offers a blind-spot collision prevention system, functional even when exiting parallel parking spots, and an emergency braking system capable of detecting vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. The package is completed by automatic high beams and a door-opening safety alert, which notifies the occupant about the approach of another vehicle when opening the door.
According to Kia, the PGL version also comes standard with side steps, a bed protector, and LED lighting installed in the bed. These items are offered only as options on the GL version. Inside the cabin, the new edition incorporates a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, an electrochromic interior rearview mirror (which automatically darkens to reduce glare), rain sensor, and tinted windows.
The driver's seat has electric adjustments allowing modification of height, distance, and lumbar support. For greater convenience of rear passengers, four USB-C ports have been included, two located in the front armrests. In addition to the five colors available on the GL, the PGL presents two new shades: Jeans Blue and Bronze Beige.
In all other aspects, the two versions remain the same. The Tasman has a load capacity of 1,007 kg, a bed volume of 1,173 liters, and a wheelbase of 3.27 meters, ensuring 91.5 cm of legroom for rear passengers. The automaker offers a five-year warranty without mileage limit, and Kia reports that the PGL is already available in approximately 70 brand dealerships nationwide.
