In light of South Africa's Entrepreneurship Day, there is a need to rethink methods for supporting entrepreneurs. Beyond recognizing their resilience, there is a requirement to create platforms that can connect their potential with real opportunities.
Across South Africa, entrepreneurs are developing solutions, creating jobs, and building enterprises with the potential to transform communities. However, for many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially in underserved areas, the problem is not a lack of ambition or innovation, but rather access to markets, finance, technology, and networks that foster growth.
Entrepreneurs require not just motivation, but practical assistance, meaningful contacts, and opportunities that turn potential into tangible progress. This principle underpins Innovex 2026—a free two-day summit on innovation and business development, organized by Brandscapers on November 26-27, 2026, at the Ben Marees Hall in Rustenburg, North West.
More practical impact, fewer empty statements
As part of the annual Brandscapers Africa summit series, Innovex promotes inclusive economic growth through research, understanding economic activity, and targeted efforts to empower SMEs, particularly in communities often excluded from mainstream business networks.
The summit adopts a practical approach, bringing together entrepreneurs, corporations, government, and development institutions around real business opportunities. SMEs can look forward to pitch competitions, prizes, exhibitions, mentorship, and business support opportunities to strengthen their companies and gain access to new networks.
The event's focus covers four sectors: future energy and clean technologies; future water supply and circular economy; future sustainable food systems; and future digital and intelligent industries.
Uniting the business ecosystem
Confirmed speakers include Jane Sithole, Deputy Minister of Small Business Development; Ndumiso Kubeku, CEO of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA); Mziwabantu Daimani, CEO of the National Empowerment Fund (NEF); Tsholo Mogotsi, Chief Partnership Specialist at the Youth Employment Service (YES); Yustasa Mashimbe, CEO of Proudly South African; and Kgosana Dr Koketso Rahudu from the Bakweng Kingdom. Local mayors and provincial premiers are also expected to attend the summit.
Confirmed partners include NEF, Entresure, NYDA, CSIR, Rand Water, Industrial Development Corporation, Momentum Foundation, Petco, Machinery Contractors, the Bakweng Kingdom, MAFI Hub, and ProNet Business Solutions.
A chance to be part of the future
Innovation should not be limited by geography, business size, or access to established networks. The next generation of successful South African enterprises can emerge anywhere, provided entrepreneurs receive the opportunity and support to realize their potential.
Innovex 2026 aims to go beyond inspiration, focusing on practical interaction, networking, and providing opportunities that entrepreneurs can utilize long after the summit concludes.
SMEs should leave the event in a different state than when they arrived—with new contacts, deeper knowledge, practical assistance, and a clear path to growth. The invitation to the event is on November 26-27, 2026, at the Ben Marees Hall in Rustenburg, North West. Attendance is free. Registration is available at www.innovexsummit.co.za. Innovation is everywhere. Opportunities should be too.
