Omoda X presents concept that unites features of off-road and urban vehicles to define new visual identity

Omoda globally unveiled the Omoda X on October 20th during the Omoda X Night event, held in Wuhu, China, as part of the International User Summit 2026. This concept model was designed to combine attributes of an off-road vehicle with those of an urban car, aiming to revive the crossover concept, a term used between the 1990s and 2000s to describe the transformation of station wagons and hatchbacks into SUVs.

Although the Omoda X is close to being a final product and its production is confirmed, it is still treated as a concept and there are no plans for a launch in Brazil. Its primary function is to establish a new visual identity that will be applied to future models of the brand. The proposal integrates dimensions and functionalities suitable for city driving with solutions designed for adventures off the asphalt, defined by the manufacturer as the world's first Cross Off-Road, comparable to the Jeep Willys from 70 years ago.

Visually, the Omoda X is inspired by mecha culture, evoking robots and science fiction machines. Its design features geometric lines, prominent shoulders, a sculpted waist, and rear lights shaped like rays, creating an identity that will guide the next vehicles in the family.

Inside, the concept features an X-shaped center console, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, and a 13.2-inch multimedia center. Despite the presence of the digital interface, physical controls for functions such as air conditioning and driving modes have been retained.

In terms of off-road capability, the vehicle has a ground clearance of 200 mm and a declared wading depth capacity exceeding 700 mm. Furthermore, it supports a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg, can carry 75 kg on the roof, and offers 39 storage compartments. However, Omoda did not provide details on engine, power, torque, transmission, or range.

Omoda X Technological Features

The concept incorporates several features that the automaker plans to integrate into the driver's experience. Among them is SIAS (Super Intelligent AI Space), an artificial intelligence system that allows conversational interactions without the need for activation words. The X-MODE system allows the vehicle's settings and performance responses to be adjusted according to the driver's preferences.

Another highlighted technology is the night vision system based on infrared thermal imaging, which, according to the brand, can detect potential dangers up to 90 meters away. The Omoda X also features Open Mic, a karaoke system with four independent audio capture zones, and magnetic accessories called MECHA Pets, which use NFC technology.

Finally, the Omoda X signals the brand's positioning within the Chery Group, which encompasses approximately 10 brands focused on serving distinct niches in both the Chinese market and other global regions.
