Hyundai has introduced the Elantra N Monochrome, a special edition of its sports sedan, designed to offer the performance of the N division without an overly flashy look. This new model is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in South Korea on October 29th.
Joon Park, who serves as Vice President and head of N management, explained that the car was developed in response to customer requests for a high-performance option that was more reserved. To meet this demand, the automaker replaced the colored elements with a completely monochromatic finish.
It is worth noting that the N division represents Hyundai's sporty arm, named after the development center located in Namyang, South Korea, and the famous German circuit of Nürburgring.
Externally, the sedan features forged wheels with a unique design, along with redesigned bumpers, side skirts, brake calipers, and a rear diffuser following the monochrome theme. Available color options are Abyss Black Pearl and Performance Blue, the traditional color of the N line.
The edition will be offered in two configurations. The entry-level version focuses on black details and features Alcantara interior trim. The more sophisticated version, called Upper Trim, includes mirrors and a rear spoiler made of carbon fiber.
Inside the cabin, the highlight is the exclusive steering wheel covered in Alcantara, where black buttons replace the colored accents found on the standard Elantra N.
Hyundai has not announced mechanical changes to the vehicle. Consequently, the Elantra N Monochrome should retain its 2.0 turbo engine, which produces 280 hp and 40 kgfm, and can be paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
After its launch in South Korea, this special series will be available in Canada and Australia, with plans for progressive expansion into other markets. In Korea, the conventional Elantra N has an initial price of 33.56 million won, equivalent to 128 thousand Brazilian reais.
In the Brazilian market, the Elantra was discontinued in 2020, after registering only 82 sales the previous year, and the N version was never commercialized in the country.
The Elantra N Monochrome will be presented to the public during the Hyundai N Festival, which will take place on October 31st and November 1st at the Everland Speedway racetrack near Seoul.
