Chevrolet launches special edition convertible Corvette with 15 exclusive units for Japan

Chevrolet has introduced the Corvette V8 Tourer model to the Japanese market, a special version of the sports convertible that will be limited to only 15 units. It is important to note that this specific model will not be sold in the United States, where the Corvette is manufactured.

The V8 Tourer features a unique design and distinct finish, while retaining the 6.2L V8 engine, which generates 502 hp and 65 kgfm. This contrasts with the new 6.7L V8 engine available in 2027 American models, which produces 542 hp and 71.9 kgfm, resulting in a 40 hp difference for the Japanese edition.

Like other Corvettes sold in Japan, the V8 Tourer has a right-hand drive steering wheel, adapting to the country's English traffic system. It comes standard with the Z51 sport package, which includes enhancements such as more powerful brakes and a stiffer suspension.

Aesthetically, the body boasts the Red Mist metallic paint, complemented by dual silver (Sterling Silver) racing stripes adorning the hood, roof, and rear spoiler. The optional package includes a front diffuser, chrome emblems, a red engine cover, and black brake calipers, in addition to dual five-spoke forged alloy wheels in nickel tone.

In the interior, the limited edition combines beige leather with black accents. The set features GT2 bucket seats, beige seatbelts, and exclusive plates indicating its limited series nature.

The price of the Chevrolet Corvette V8 Tourer is equivalent to R$ 686 thousand (21.5 million yen). This value represents an increase of approximately R$ 60.6 thousand compared to the standard convertible Corvette sold in Japan, which costs R$ 625.6 thousand (19.6 million yen).

In Brazil, Chevrolet has never conducted official sales of the Corvette, with access being exclusively through independent importation. Despite this, the sports car registered 138 units in 2025. Meanwhile, Chevrolet continues to sell standard versions of the Corvette equipped with the 6.2L engine in Japan, and according to the Autoblog website, the arrival of the new 6.7L V8 engine in Japan is only a matter of time.
