Uzbekistan aims to train one million IT specialists annually in fields from AI to game development

Uzbekistan plans the annual training of one million young citizens in areas such as robotics, computer game creation, startup launching, and other promising fields. To achieve this goal, educational initiatives for schoolchildren will be expanded, new courses launched, and curricula updated in higher education institutions.

These plans were announced at a presentation on the development of digital education before President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. For schoolchildren, there is a plan to expand the 'Al-Khwarizmi Heirs' and 'Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders' projects. Furthermore, interaction will be established between schools, universities, and private training centers, and national trainers will be prepared to ensure the scaling of education.

In universities, the focus will be on in-depth training of specialists in artificial intelligence, microchip design, unmanned technologies, and game development. Special attention will be paid to microelectronics, embedded systems, and the Internet of Things. Students will be more actively involved in practical projects, and scientific research should be integrated into real developments through the support of research laboratories and engineering projects.

There is also a provision for improving the qualifications of informatics teachers in the field of artificial intelligence, followed by certification. University students will be given expanded access to international courses in digital technologies. It is planned to open centers for training iOS developers, building on the experience of Fergana, and to prepare mentors for private training centers.

The authorities also aim to accelerate the launch of online platforms and short-term courses so that young people have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge not only in large settlements but also in regions. It is worth noting that as the chairman of the CIS in 2027, Uzbekistan intends to hold over one hundred events, among which key themes will be robotization, artificial intelligence, as well as scientific cooperation and education in the Commonwealth countries.

Uzbekistan plans to create an additional 500,000 IT jobs by 2030

Uzbekistan plans to create another 500,000 jobs in the field of information technology by 2030. The previously set goal of creating 300,000 such jobs was achieved as early as 2026. Authorities aim to expand the digital economy and prepare specialists for new industry segments.

These plans were announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a presentation dedicated to the development of digital education. A key aspect is the training of youth: by 2030, it is planned to teach 5.5 million young citizens digital competencies using both in-person and distance learning formats.

A unified system is planned to be formed that will link the learning process, recognition of professional skills, and subsequent employment. This should provide young people with the opportunity to gain relevant knowledge and find work corresponding to their qualifications.

To achieve this goal, increased interaction with private educational institutions, higher education institutions, and global technology corporations is planned. Program effectiveness will be assessed not only by the number of trained individuals but also by their level of preparation and employment opportunities.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan had previously announced its intention to increase the volume of grants for digital education: by the end of 2026, it will reach $60 million, and by 2030—$100 million. These funds will be directed towards developing educational courses, improving qualifications, and establishing digital education centers in various regions.

Startup parks will be launched in Uzbekistan to support entrepreneurship and innovation

Innovative startup parks are planned for creation in various regions of Uzbekistan. These venues are intended for entrepreneurs, allowing them to develop their projects, integrate scientific developments, and bring new products to the market.

The activities of the new centers will be carried out under the auspices of the Agency for Innovation Development of the Ministry of Education and Science. Startups located in the parks will receive comprehensive support, including access to necessary infrastructure, legal and financial resources, as well as marketing consultations.

The main focus will be on incubation and acceleration programs, whose goal is to transform promising concepts into full-fledged commercial enterprises. Furthermore, the parks will facilitate the process of product certification and registration, ensure intellectual property protection, and assist in promoting goods both domestically and internationally. Entrepreneurs will also be able to participate in exhibitions held both within and outside Uzbekistan.

The determination of locations for these parks has been entrusted to the hokimiyats of Karakalpakstan, the regions, and the capital itself. It is planned that production premises will be leased through electronic auctions. The financial base for this project will be formed from rental income, grants, and other legal sources.

It was previously announced that specialized spin-off companies can be established in state technical schools of Uzbekistan for the commercialization and launch of promising ideas developed by students. For the implementation of one such startup, there is the possibility of receiving a grant of up to 1 billion soms.
