WKS Africa 3 to take place in Cape Town, showcasing the continent's rising kickboxing talents

WKS Africa returns with a packed card of fights at the Sunningdale Sports Complex this weekend, where numerous rising kickboxing stars are ready to demonstrate their skills.

On Saturday, the 28th, bouts begin in Milnerton. The boxers will compete to improve their martial arts skills, gain valuable experience, and advance their careers, with some having plans to become professionals in the future.

Main Event of the Evening

In the main fight, current WKS Lightweight Grand Prix champion Charlie Moyo will attempt to assert his dominance against David Matasva from Vipers Gym. Moyo maintains his undefeated status following a triumph in the WKS 2 Grand Prix, while Matasva enters the fight after a crushing knockout victory over a strong local contender.

Moyo's energetic style combined with Matasva's exceptional physical conditioning, power, and aggression promises an explosive three-round non-title contest.

Co-Main Event

The co-main event is an attraction in itself: dangerous striker from Camp Fight and former South African Super Lightweight Muay Thai champion Zoe Klassen will face her compatriot Chloe Assad, the current South African Lightweight Muay Thai champion training at Triple Threat Gym. These two experienced strikers will clash in a Pro-Am bout under K-1 rules at WKS Africa 3.

Further on the program is another interesting match between Hamza Muneymne from PFA and Jose Griego from Strandfontein Kickboxing. Muneymne, an undefeated MMA fighter known for his strong clinch and sweeping ability, will meet Griego, an award-winning striker whose strengths lie in clean exchanges.

Hamza, son of respected former fighters, coaches, and gym owners Mike and Jess Muneymne, comes from a strong fighting lineage and intends to continue the family legacy in martial arts by facing a worthy opponent in Griego.

One of the highlights of this tournament is the opportunity for amateurs to develop under the WKS banner, gain experience, and start establishing themselves in the sport.

WKS Africa promoter Wade Hammond expressed great pleasure about highlighting grassroots talent and creating opportunities for newcomers to showcase their potential. He stated: 'My goal has always been to develop K-1 sport from the ground up, so for this event I decided to focus more on amateur grassroots level, giving fighters starting from scratch the chance to gain experience and show their potential.'

Hammond himself had a successful career in kickboxing, winning several titles, including the Cape Fight League K-1 title, the PFC K-1 title, the Western Cape K-1 title in the middleweight division, and national South African K-1 awards. He added: 'We have already seen a pair of fighters progress at our events, becoming recognized amateurs, almost moving to the professional level. So now I want to invest a little more in those guys who are just starting their journey, and essentially create a wider pool of talent.'

Hammond also emphasized the potential international opportunities for fighters who continue to develop through this promotion. He noted: 'There are possible overseas opportunities in professional circles with our WKS founder Jonathan Ruiz, who actively participates in professional K-1 in the USA and hosts events in Madison Square Garden, and obviously with Andy Souwer, the two-time K-1 MAX champion, who constantly creates his army of new K-1 generation stars.'

As WKS Africa continues to gain momentum under the World Kickboxing Union umbrella, Hammond thanked the sponsors supporting the promotion's vision. He thanked: 'A huge thank you to our main sponsor and driving force, Lycan Athletics, for supporting our vision from the beginning. Also thanks again for the support from Captain Joe Foods.'

WKS Africa 3 will start at 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 24th, at the Sunningdale Sports Complex in Milnerton. Tickets are available through Quicket, and Hammond confirmed that any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
