The release of the highly anticipated film 'Ramayana' is approaching, scheduled to hit theaters within the next 16 days. Previously, creators announced the start of advance ticket sales for the Dasara festival, but it has been revealed that audiences will have to wait before they can purchase tickets in the early stages.
Advance ticket sales for the film 'Ramayana,' starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, were supposed to begin today, October 20th, on the day of Dasara. However, by 9:30 AM, ticket sales had not started in most theaters across the country. According to Bollywood Hungama, the main reason for this delay is ongoing negotiations between distributors and cinemas regarding revenue split.
One industry source reported that typically, the exhibitor receives 52.5 percent of the ticket revenue during the first week. This percentage drops to 45% in the second week and 37.5% in the third. However, the distributors of 'Ramayana' are demanding a higher share of the profits. According to the report, they insist on receiving 60 percent in the first week, 50 percent in the second, and 40 percent in the third.
This request significantly exceeds the standard terms of deals for major films. Because of this, theaters are hesitant to accept such a condition, and negotiations are underway between both parties. Advance sales may be postponed until both sides reach a mutually acceptable agreement, although the source does not provide official confirmation of this information.
The source also noted that everyone is interested in the large-scale release of 'Ramayana,' but this requires reaching a consensus on the film's revenue. Meanwhile, advance sales have already begun in some theaters: INOX launched sales in the Greater Mumbai area at 9:30 AM, and tickets have also become available for purchase at AMB Cinemas in Bangalore.
The film 'Ramayana,' directed by Nitish Tiwari, features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Mother Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film premieres on November 5th in all global cinemas. Production was handled by Namit Malhotra and Yash, and among the distributors of 'Ramayana' are cinematographers such as Karan Johar and Dil Raju.
