Tencent has launched a public welfare educational version of its AI agent workspace, WorkBuddy, making it available to teachers across China completely free of charge.
The program is implemented by Tencent's division responsible for sustainable social value, known as Tencent SSV. After activating an account, each teacher receives 2000 credits monthly for 12 consecutive months. There are no restrictions based on region or educational institution level. Credits are automatically replenished on the first day of each month, and teachers who exhaust their limit can continue working with free models, preventing interruptions in lesson preparation.
Key features of the educational version
The central element of this version is AI teaching assistants. The Tencent SSV team, in collaboration with universities such as Peking University and Beijing Normal University, has transformed educational research findings into over 100 callable expert skills that are continuously being integrated. These skills cover lesson planning, creation of teaching materials, rehearsal of demonstration lessons, differentiated learning for students of different levels, school-family interaction, and student mental health support. Teachers can find these tools in the Skills Panel and Connectors section of the application.
Furthermore, WorkBuddy has added five classroom tools: creative teaching, scenario-based classes, creation of teaching materials, animated demonstrations, and material processing. According to Tencent, teachers can describe their needs in everyday language and receive a ready-to-use result without having to compose complex prompts.
This version is planned to be integrated with other Tencent productivity tools, including Tencent Docs, the Lexiang knowledge base, and the ima AI workspace. This integration will allow documents, resource libraries, and collaborative editing to be embedded directly into teachers' daily workflow.
Individual teachers apply through the official Tencent SSV account on WeChat, providing information about their teaching activities. Account activation occurs within three business days after approval. This step expands WorkBuddy's scope from corporate offices directly into schools. Recent updates have also included third-party models, such as the Step 5 preview from StepFun, as well as a path from text prompt to WeChat mini-program preview. Transforming educational research into ready-made expert skills aims to provide teachers with specialized assistance in planning and communicating with parents without requiring them to become prompt engineers.
