Several days after competing groups of Indians associated with Harvard took opposing stances regarding protests against the Election Commission, over 400 students, researchers, and alumni of Indian origin, representing universities from 27 countries, issued a statement. In it, they cautioned against attempts to undermine public trust in constitutional institutions and against the desire to replace democratic debates with street clashes.
