Modernization of the Quality Control and Counterfeit Protection System in EAEU

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is modernizing its quality control and anti-counterfeiting product protection system. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) discussed the technical aspects of this modernization with Technical Director for Regulation Alexander Subbotin and Head of Rosaccreditation Dmitry Volvach.

The EEC proposes dividing the upcoming changes into two blocks to promptly respond to potential violations that may arise among market participants. Subbotin emphasized that their goal is to create a system where it becomes practically impossible to sell dangerous or non-standard products.

The first block includes measures that can be implemented before the launch of the EAEU's integrated information system mechanisms. It is proposed that this union provides the ability to quickly identify violations in the work of certification bodies and testing laboratories of member countries. Special attention is paid to the draft amendments to the regulation of the Council of Heads of Accreditation Bodies of the EAEU, which has been in effect since 2018.

Mandatory consultations are planned to resolve disagreements between national agencies, approving the procedure for such meetings, and granting the commission authority to receive materials from these meetings. This mechanism will accelerate the professional review of disputed situations and ensure the consistency of actions by regulatory bodies.

The second block takes into account that after consultations and necessary procedures, the package of measures will be submitted for approval to the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. Subbotin noted that consumers must be confident in the genuine quality of goods and fair competition in the market, based on the EAEU mark on the packaging.

The EAEU is an international economic association that has been operating since January 1, 2015. The Union includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan obtained observer status in the EAEU in 2020, and Cuba and Iran also have observer status.

The path from growing medicinal plants to the European market

Increasing crops that generate high income in agriculture and have high demand in foreign markets is currently of greater economic importance than growing simple products. In particular, cultivating medicinal plants is seen as one of the important future paths for diversifying agriculture, expanding export territories, and utilizing land effectively.

To see this process clearly, the example of 'BBU-Azamat' LLC operating in Chim village, Kamashi district of Kashkadarya region is given.
