Changes are being observed in the business sector: rising production costs are reducing the profitability of FMCG companies. However, consumer demand has not yet suffered, as firms have partially offset inflationary costs during the festive season. Nevertheless, experts note that price increases may be implemented after Diwali, starting in December, amid continued margin pressure.

In other news, US Vice President J. D. Vance admitted that his remarks were 'imperfect' when he used the term 'debt slaves' regarding foreign specialists holding H-1 B visas. He clarified that his criticism was aimed at the visa system itself, which grants employers excessive power over foreign employees, rather than against the H-1B holders.

India condemned this terminology as 'deeply offensive,' as it carries painful historical and colonial connotations. Concurrently, the Delhi government approved the creation of the Go-Delhi Fund with a target capital of 50 crore rupees to support young innovators and startups. The fund aims to stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation in the capital, as well as assist young people, researchers, and entrepreneurs in turning ideas into successful ventures.

At the TechSparks 2026 event, Tally Managing Director Tejas Goenka and Executive Director Nupur Goenka explained how Tally, as a domestic product, has remained relevant for four decades.

Furthermore, it is reported that the Jio Platforms IPO will open for subscription from October 21 to 23, which is expected to be the largest public offering in the history of the Indian stock market.
