Uzbekistan will conduct a survey of the living conditions of women and children in 2027–2028

Uzbekistan plans to conduct a Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) from 2027 to 2028 to assess the current situation of children and women in the country. The procedure for this survey was approved by Cabinet of Ministers Decree No. 556 dated October 9, 2026, which also defined the composition of the National Interagency Coordination Council.

The National Statistical Committee will organize this study in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The National Statistical Committee has been appointed as the authorized body responsible for conducting this study.

The preliminary preparation phase is scheduled to be completed by June 2027. Household surveys are expected to take place by November 2027, and data collection and analysis should be completed by March 2028. Preparation of the national report is planned to be finalized by June 2028, with results publication scheduled for July of the same year.

By November 2028, comprehensive measures for the development of relevant sectors are expected to be developed based on the obtained results. A National Interagency Coordination Council has been established to coordinate preparatory work, monitor implementation, and analyze results, involving local and national executive bodies, ministries, and agencies.

Measures to protect personal data and ensure the confidentiality of statistical information will be applied during interviews, and any interference with the household survey process is strictly prohibited. The MICS results will allow for an assessment of the status of women and children in Uzbekistan, an analysis of social indicators, and the determination of directions for the further development of necessary areas.
