The book by scientist Dr. Robert Lange, titled 'Biocentrism: How Life and Consciousness are Keys to Understanding the Nature of the Universe,' has caused significant resonance on the internet. It asserts that life does not cease with the death of the body, and consciousness can persist. Some people refer to this as the soul. According to Lange, consciousness is a fundamental component of the Universe; the physical universe arises from consciousness, not the other way around.
This principle sparks debate in the scientific community because it diverges from established physics. Dr. Robert Lange is a specialist in medicine, who previously worked on stem cells and cloning endangered species. He later shifted his focus to physics, quantum mechanics, and astrophysics. His biocentrism theory postulates that life and consciousness are at the core of existence. The rules of the Universe and the stability of life suggest that reason existed before matter.
Lange argues that space and time are not objects but tools of our perception, which we carry with us like a turtle's shell. Even when the body (the shell) disintegrates, consciousness remains. If the body generated consciousness, death would have to lead to the complete disappearance of everything. However, if the body merely receives consciousness, similar to how a cable receiver gets a satellite signal, then consciousness is not dependent on the death of the body. It exists outside the limitations of time and space and is non-local, much like quantum objects.
The theory also suggests that multiple universes may exist simultaneously. In one universe, the body might die, but in another, it remains alive, and consciousness transfers there. Thus, a person reaches a living world similar to their own after a tunnel-like journey, rather than going to hell or heaven. This process can repeat infinitely.
This concept is related to Hugh Everett's multiverse theory, according to which the Universe splits into countless identical copies at every moment. Some physicists accept the possibility of parallel worlds because there are no physical laws prohibiting it. Lange believes that our souls are composed of the fabric of the Universe and may have existed since the beginning of time. The brain merely functions as a receiver and amplifier.
