From January to August 2026, Uzbekistan produced 9.1 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy. Over the past four years, the development of renewable energy sources has allowed the country to save over 6.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevent the emission of more than 14.5 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.
This growth in renewable energy production is occurring against the backdrop of large-scale transformations in the country's fuel and energy sector. Direct foreign investment is being attracted to industry, and the development of the energy system is focused on expanding the use of renewable resources, digitalization, and increasing efficiency.
The scale of these changes is reflected in generation indicators. In 2022, Uzbekistan generated 434 million kWh of green energy, whereas in the first eight months of 2026, this figure reached 9.1 billion kWh.
Furthermore, the country is accelerating the implementation of its 'Solar Home programme,' under which the state has been purchasing surplus electricity generated by household solar panels since 2021.
In 2024, over 10,000 citizens received payments for electricity supplied to the grid, totaling 12.1 million sums. However, from January to June 2026, the number of recipients increased to nearly 70,000 people, and the total payment amount reached 330.8 billion sums.
