Prabhas' film 'Spirit' set for Diwali 2027 release and faces off against Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana'

Film producers frequently announce new release dates for anticipated movies, aiming to leverage festive periods for promoting their projects. In line with this trend, the upcoming film 'Spirit' by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, starring Pan-Indian actor Prabhas and Trupti Dimri, has received a new release date.

The film's premiere was initially scheduled for March 5, 2027, but Vanga changed his plans and decided to release it on October 29, 2027, which coincides with the Diwali festival. This new date means that Diwali 2027 will feature the biggest and most high-profile cinematic confrontation of the year, as the epic 'Ramayana Part 2' from Nitish Tiwari will also be released during the same period.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga personally announced this new date by posting a new poster on his social media account 'X' on Sunday. Vanga shared an image of Prabhas in a new and interesting look, accompanying it with the caption: 'Look... #Spirit October 29, Diwali 2027 - Global Release Date.' Following this social media announcement, there has been immense excitement among fans of Prabhas and Vanga.

A notable aspect of 'Spirit' is that Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga are collaborating on a project for the first time.

The announcement of the new release date for 'Spirit' clearly indicates that it will directly compete with 'Ramayana Part 2'. The film 'Ramayana', directed by Nitish Tiwari and produced with lavish production by Namit Malhotra, features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and southern superstar Yash as Ravana, and consists of two parts.

The first part of the epic, 'Ramayana: Rise of the Legend', is set to release in theaters on November 5. Although producers have not yet announced an official sequel date, it is speculated that it is planned for Diwali 2027. The clash of such large-scale projects is generating excitement among industry professionals and audiences alike.

Prabhas has a rather long list of upcoming projects and is preparing for a series of major releases consecutively. Earlier reports suggested that his historical action drama 'Fauji', directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, might release in December 2026, but it is now anticipated to appear in theaters on March 18, 2027.

Furthermore, superstar Prabhas has two of Indian cinema's biggest sequels lined up: 'Kalki 2898 AD Part 2' and 'Salaar Part 2', both of which are actively undergoing shooting and pre-production.
