Subhman Gill fails in Ranji Trophy tournament before New Zealand tour, scoring only one run

Before the upcoming tour to New Zealand, India's captain Subhman Gill displayed a highly unsuccessful performance in the Ranji Trophy tournament. Playing for Punjab against Chhattisgarh, Gill was dismissed after scoring only one run, which was a serious blow to expectations from his training process.

In the match held at the PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh as part of Elite Group B, the disappointment among fans intensified due to Gill's early exit. Coming onto the field at number four, Subhman Gill showed a very unsatisfactory performance. He struggled to stay on the field and became a victim of the bowling of left-arm spinner Ajay Mandal. Before being out, Gill faced only five balls and managed to score just one run. His quick dismissal put Punjab in a difficult position in the first innings.

This match against Chhattisgarh was Punjab's second game, having missed the first Ranji Trophy match against Assam. Gill came out to practice red ball technique. India is set to play an important two-match test series against New Zealand next month. The first Test is scheduled for November 19 in Wellington, and the second for November 27 in Christchurch. This series is of great importance regarding the World Test Championship, and Gill hoped to gain extensive practice at home before international matches, but this short stint overshadowed his plans.

Despite the quiet spell in the Ranji Trophy against Chhattisgarh, Gill's statistics in international cricket remain impressive. Analyzing his overall career figures, he has made a significant mark in all three formats. In Tests, Gill has played 77 innings in 43 matches, scoring 3043 runs with an average of 43.47. His best Test score was 269 runs, during which he scored 11 centuries and 9 half-centuries.

His performance in ODIs was also outstanding. In 69 innings across 70 ODI matches, he scored 3713 runs with an average of 64.01, including two double centuries.
