Despite Match Cancellation, Indian Team Sets New Record by Achieving Fastest Team Half-Century in T20I

The fifth match of the series between India (IND) and West Indies (WI), held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, was cancelled due to rain. Nevertheless, the Indian team managed to set a significant record that had not been achieved before.

Despite the lack of a match result, the Indian batsmen displayed very dynamic play. The team set a new record in T20 International Cricket by achieving the fastest team half-century. India crossed the 50-run mark in just 2.5 overs, which is the first such achievement for the Indian team in T20.

Previously, the Indian team had scored fifty runs in three overs. The series ended in a 2-2 draw, as the Indian team, having lost the toss and batting first, put pressure on the Caribbean bowlers from the start of the game.

Although Abhishek Sharma was dismissed relatively quickly, Ishan Kishan (30 runs off 10 overs) and Sanju Samson (16 runs off 7 overs) created a real flurry of fours and sixes. Following them, Naman Dir also played an impressive unbeaten innings of 24 runs off 6 overs. Thanks to these performances, India scored 118 runs in 7.4 overs, losing 5 batsmen. However, the rain interrupted the game, forcing it to be cancelled.

The Indian team broke its previous T20 cricket record. Previously, India had scored a team half-century in three overs during this same series against West Indies in Hyderabad. Considering world records, India surpassed teams such as New Zealand (3.1 overs in Guwahati), Pakistan (3.2 overs in Nashin), and Afghanistan (3.3 overs in Delhi).
