Donald Trump Suspends Tariffs on Russian Oil; Marco Rubio States 60 Days Needed to Analyze Impact on Global Economy

US President Donald Trump suddenly canceled the decision to impose 100% tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, citing security measures. However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a statement that suggests Trump is either under pressure or has not made a final decision regarding these tariffs.

Rubio reported that President Donald Trump wishes to take a 60-day pause to study the potential impact of sanctions against Russia and the imposition of tariffs on other countries on the global economy. He shared this information with journalists ahead of his one-week visit to Uzbekistan and India.

In response to the question about the easing provided by Trump under the 'Grama' Act (also known as the 'Grama Law'), Rubio suggested that the president wants to analyze the consequences of imposing restrictions and tariffs for both the global and American economies. He noted that the 'Grama' Act was passed during a period of geopolitical tension worldwide.

Rubio added that the provision for reducing tariffs was intended to study various global events, such as pressure on global energy supplies due to the Iran war, Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia, and the war between Ukraine and Russia. Therefore, in his opinion, all these factors must be taken into account and assessed.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is arriving in India on Monday. Expressing a positive view of India, he noted that although the country has diversified its energy needs sources, it still purchases a significant amount of oil from Russia because it is impossible to switch instantly to fully alternative sources. Rubio emphasized that India is an important partner and ally of America, and the president requires 60 days to study all aspects and determine the appropriate balance.

Negotiations on a trade agreement between India and the US are ongoing but have not yet reached a final agreement. Both sides state that they are very close to concluding the deal, but they have not specified the reasons for this. Experts suggest that the reason for the delay may be the discussion of tariffs between India and the US. In this regard, America does not wish to take steps that could harm this agreement.
