New energy storage technologies encompass advanced methods that differ from traditional pumped-storage power plants. These systems are capable of capturing unstable energy derived from wind and solar generation, and then feeding electricity back into the grid as needed, compensating for deficits when renewable sources cannot provide sufficient power.
At the World Energy Storage Conference in 2026, held in Nindei City, Fujian Province, CGTN representative Liu Jiashen engaged with experts from South Africa, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Qatar. These participants unanimously stated the need for deeper international collaboration in the field of new energy storage.
The experts mentioned China's leadership in terms of speed and scale of technology implementation, and called for improvements in the regulatory framework and skills exchange.
