Shashi Kapoor offered Shekhar Suman a role in the film after his arrival in Mumbai

Mumbai is known as the city of dreams, where young actors come every year hoping to act in films with big stars. Although achieving a desired role takes years for many actors, actor Shekhar Suman's story developed differently.

Just fifteen days after moving from Delhi to Mumbai, Shekhar Suman's destiny changed in a way he never imagined. He received an offer to play the lead role in Shashi Kapoor's film 'Utsav.'

In a recent interview, Shekhar Suman spoke about his debut. He mentioned that he had studied acting at the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in Delhi and then worked for about two years in one company. It was during this period that actress and film producer Shammi offered him a part in a film.

He recounted: 'One day Shammi came to our company. She said she was shooting a film called 'Pighalta Aasman,' starring Shashi Kapoor and Rahi. There was an open supporting role, and she was looking for a young artist. Everyone present expressed interest in the film and was very excited about the project. But I was chosen for this role. Shammi said I looked good and should play this role.'

After this, Shekhar Kapoor traveled from Delhi to Mumbai, where he first met Rahi and Shashi Kapoor. In the film 'Pighalta Aasman,' Shashi Kapoor and Rahi played the main roles, while Shekhar had a minor role. After the filming wrapped up, he was planning to return to Delhi when Shammi gave him her number and asked him to call her upon arriving in Mumbai. So, when Shekhar returned to Mumbai, he called Shammi first and went to meet her. Shashi Kapoor was also present there. Shashi offered him the film 'Utsav.'

Shekhar shared that Shashi Kapoor told him: 'I am shooting a big film in which Amitabh Bachchan plays a negative role for the first time. The film will be shot in Hindi and English. After that, Shashi told me he was looking for a hero and asked if I would like to be the hero in this film?'

Receiving this offer, Shekhar was astonished, as he had only recently arrived in Mumbai and heard that film offers are usually made after long struggles in Mumbai. Furthermore, it was shocking for Shekhar that Rekha was also starring in this film. Hearing the name Rekha, Shekhar was stunned and thought it must be a joke.

Salman Khan halts biopic: 'My life will remain until my grave'

Salman Khan has made it clear that no film will ever be made about his biography. During the rapid-fire round of 'Coffee with Karan 9', Karisma Kapoor asked him which director he would entrust with making his biopic. Salman named four prominent filmmakers, but the statement he subsequently made dashed all hopes of such a film.

In the first episode of 'Coffee with Karan 9', Lolo, known as Karisma Kapoor, posed an interesting question to Salman about choosing a director for his biographical film. He named four directors: Suraj Barjatya, Kabir Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and David Dhawan. Salman replied that his choice would depend on the style in which his life story was presented.

He suggested that for a comedy film, he would choose David Dhawan, and for a traditional and dramatic love story, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. If the story needed to include successive beautiful romantic plots, he felt that Suraj Barjatya would be suitable for this role. Kabir Khan was also mentioned among his preferences; he noted that for creating an action story based on events from his life, he would like to choose Kabir Khan.

However, after mentioning these four names, Salman uttered a phrase that completely stopped any expectations regarding a biopic. He stated: 'But no biopic will ever be made on my life. My life will go until my grave.'

This statement clearly indicates that he does not intend to show details of his personal life on screen. Despite having many well-known stories in his life related to success, relationships, disputes, and rises, Salman does not want his entire history to be presented to the world through a film. The question arises: if Salman himself is unwilling to present his story on screen, will any filmmaker dare to create a story inspired by his life?

Furthermore, Salman Khan resumed shooting in Karan Johar's chat show 'Coffee with Karan', which is the ninth and final season. This episode was released on JioHotstar on October 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM. Karisma Kapoor's presence added an atmosphere of old memories and social gossip. Rumor has it that many big Bollywood stars and famous couples, including Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Saif Ali Khan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, will appear in this final season. There are also rumors about Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, although there is no official confirmation of these names yet. According to available information, Shah Rukh Khan may appear in the last episode of the season.

Musician Dhirendra receives 'Hanuman ANSH' project after visiting Kainty Dham temple

The fate of musician Dhirendra Mulkavar, who previously created jingles, changed with the acquisition of the 'Hanuman ANSH' project, which many consider a miracle. He had long tried to visit the Kainty Dham temple and finally managed to reach the Nim Karoli Baba ashram last April. Just a few months later, he received an offer that fulfilled a long-held dream.

Director Vishal Chaturvedi invited him to compose music for his film 'Hanuman ANSH'. For Dhirendra, this was not just a movie, but something akin to a miracle. In an interview with India Today/Aajtak, he shared his story.

Dhirendra Mulkavar's connection with Nim Karoli Baba dates back to a much earlier period, preceding the creation of this film. Around 2010, he saw a video of the American spiritual teacher Rama Das, who was a disciple of Nim Karoli Baba. It was then that Dhirendra developed an interest in Baba.

He began researching information about Baba, listening to stories about his influence and followers worldwide. His curiosity grew with stories about Baba linked to names such as Steve Jobs and Julia Roberts. However, achieving the goal of visiting Kainty Dham took about four years. Finally, he arrived there in April. He did not suspect that this journey would open the next big door in his life.

Approximately two months after the trip to Kainty Dham, Dhirendra contacted director Vishal Chaturvedi, who offered him the opportunity to compose music for a film about Nim Karoli Baba. Dhirendra himself recalls the entire process, considering it a miracle. The link from the trip to Kainty Dham to the music for the film was so direct that it was difficult for Dhirendra to consider it mere coincidence.

The most special song in the film, 'Siavar Ramchandra Ki Jai', was also not created according to plan. In fact, Dhirendra was working on background music for an important scene in the film. In this scene, the revolutionary takes the guise of a sadhu to avoid persecution by the English, and Nim Karoli Baba helps him.

While working on this scene, an idea suddenly occurred to Dhirendra—chants in honor of Sita and Rama. He presented this idea to Vishal Chaturvedi, who approved it. Thus, what was initially just part of the background music later became a full-fledged song. This song, combining patriotism and spirituality, became the film's signature piece.

The musician, whose name is now associated with 'Hanuman ANSH', did not begin his journey in a big city or within a film family. Dhirendra grew up in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, and his childhood was spent in very modest conditions with limited resources. Music was not a direct path to a career for him.

His mentor, the late drummer Rajiv Pillai, introduced him to music. Furthermore, his older brother showed him music that awakened in Dhirendra a dream of doing something great. Gradually, he began to think that he could become a music director.

After moving to Mumbai, Dhirendra mastered audio engineering. He worked in radio for about a year, but his dream did not stop there. After his day job, he prepared his musical demos at night and met with people. Then, he was offered a job creating jingles for advertisements. Soon, he worked on over 500 commercials and jingles, but the dream of recognition in cinema as a composer remained unfulfilled.

Dhirendra's story also holds another beautiful connection—with nature. The area near Chandrapur, around the Tadoba-Andhari sanctuary, was part of his childhood. He was also involved in wildlife rescue and conservation. The time spent in the forest gave his music a unique perspective. According to him, sounds were sometimes heard in the forest that rivaled a symphony. He would close his eyes and feel these natural sounds as music.

Perhaps this is why nature, spirituality, and emotion are so naturally combined in his music.

It took Dhirendra about two decades to realize his dream of becoming a film composer. He said that he knew how to play music, but understanding the business of the film industry was entirely different. Because he was from a small town, it took him time to master this aspect of the industry.

During this time, his work was featured in films such as 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' and 'Article 15'. It was this work that attracted the attention of Vishal Chaturvedi, leading to the 'Hanuman ANSH' project. The film 'Hanuman ANSH', released in August, received more positive reviews from audiences than expected. Even during screenings, the team realized that an emotional connection was forming with the audience.

Now, 'Hanuman ANSH' has opened new opportunities. According to Dhirendra, some viewers were so moved during the preview that the team felt the film's spiritual message had reached the public. But the commercial success of the film exceeded his expectations. Now, following this success, Dhirendra has started receiving calls about new projects, and negotiations are underway for several films.
