Uzbekistan prepares for the launch of the DataVolt data center in Tashkent

Uzbekistan is taking steps to launch a data center currently under construction at IT Park Uzbekistan. The project's progress and commissioning timeline were discussed by Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and DataVolt CEO Rajit Nanda.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the final stages of construction work, organizational issues, and preparatory measures for the opening ceremony. Special attention was paid to coordinating further actions to ensure the timely start of the data center's operation.

It is expected that this facility will meet the domestic demand for computing power and help increase the export of digital services and computing resources to international markets. Participants also discussed the potential for cooperation between the data center and foreign technology companies, as well as the implementation of advanced cloud services and high-performance computing infrastructure.

Both sides emphasized the need for prompt resolution of emerging issues and coordination of the next phases of the project. However, an exact opening date was not announced.

Uzbekistan Airports installs air quality monitoring stations near airports

Uzbekistan Airports is installing automated stations to monitor atmospheric air quality near airports across Uzbekistan. The equipment installation has been completed in Samarkand and Fergana, and similar stations are planned for other airports in the country.

The station in Fergana was mounted on October 15, while the installation and calibration of equipment in Samarkand were finished on October 9.

These stations are located in the sanitary protection zones of the airports and are designed for 24-hour monitoring of ambient air quality. They measure concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide, as well as fine particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10.

The system also records air temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, as well as wind speed and direction. The collected data is automatically transmitted to the Unified Geospatial Information Database of the ecological system. This will allow tracking changes in air quality and using measurement results to assess the state of the environment and determine necessary measures.

This project is being implemented in collaboration with Malkam Environmental Technologies under Presidential Decree No. 81 on the transformation of the environmental sector and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 783, which aims to reduce the negative impact of industrial enterprises on the environment.

The installation of these stations is part of Uzbekistan Airports' efforts to strengthen environmental monitoring and minimize the impact of airport activities on nature.

Uzbekistan proposed creating a unified computing infrastructure for Central Asian countries

Uzbekistan has put forward the idea of establishing a common computing infrastructure for all Central Asian countries, which would be based on an interconnected network of national data centers. This initiative is aimed at promoting the joint use of computing resources and stimulating the development of domestic digital projects, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced this proposal on October 8 during the eighth Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia, held in Turkmenistan. According to the president, big data and artificial intelligence technologies are transforming sectors such as transport, energy, agriculture, education, industry, and public administration.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that the future competitiveness and productivity of the region's economies will largely depend on the pace of these technological developments. The proposed model involves connecting the national data centers of the region's countries, which will ensure more efficient use of existing computing power and create the necessary technical foundation for large-scale AI projects.

In addition to technical aspects, the president focused on training qualified personnel. He suggested launching joint educational programs, supporting scientific research, and expanding opportunities for technological entrepreneurship. It should be noted that at the same meeting, Mirziyoyev also proposed that the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan develop common industrial and technological chains, as well as form new tools for implementing joint initiatives.
