In September 2026, the ranking of the largest website traffic services included AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and DeepSeek. The study, which compared seven different platforms, allowed for an analysis of changes in their shares and positions over the past year.
The preparation of the ranking was carried out by Visual Capitalist based on data provided by Similarweb. Analysts took into account traffic coming from both computers and mobile devices.
According to the results, ChatGPT received 56.4% of the total recorded visits, while Gemini held a 25% share, and Claude accounted for 9.6%. These two leaders together accounted for over 80% of all traffic among the surveyed platforms.
Among the other platforms, DeepSeek, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity lead, with each holding a share of no more than 3.4%.
A dynamic trend is observed: ChatGPT's share has decreased compared to October 2025, while Gemini's figure has almost doubled. Claude also showed significant growth, moving from fifth place to third.
The decrease in ChatGPT's share is attributed to the overall market growth; the number of visits to its resource grew from approximately 5.7 billion in January to 5.9 billion in September, but competitors were increasing traffic more actively.
Visual Capitalist links Gemini's growth to the expansion of the Google ecosystem and the release of the Gemini 3 model at the end of 2025. Claude's success was influenced by the service's promotion and increased attention to Anthropic's position in the context of US military use of AI.
It is important to note that the presented data reflects only the traffic to web versions, not the total number of users or the quality of the answers provided. For example, Copilot's statistics do not include instances of service usage in Windows operating systems and Office programs, which limits the completeness of the comparison.
