São Paulo Market hosts French gastronomy festival with tastings and music

The Municipal Market of São Paulo hosted the first edition of the 'Flavors of France' event this Saturday, the 17th. The initiative was organized by the Consulate General of France in São Paulo and will run from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, offering the public the opportunity to sample typical dishes, cheeses, wines, breads, and desserts, in addition to enjoying musical performances. Entry to the festival is free.

The program features participation from various establishments linked to French cuisine, including restaurants, bakeries, confectioneries, and producers. Notable names include chef Benoit Mathurin from Esther Rooftop, the charcuterie Les Charcutiers, the bakery Jules L’Art du Pain, Maison Vérot, and Atelier Voltaire Pâtisserie.

Chef pastry maker Saiko Izawa from Patisserie by Saiko will also be present, whose cuisine blends French techniques with Brazilian ingredients. The product selection includes AOC International French wines and artisanal Beaufor mustards. On the menu, visitors can find classics such as cassoulet, coq au vin, and boeuf bourguignon, along with croissants, baguettes, cheeses, and sweets.

The concept of the event is inspired by guinguettes, traditional French venues that combine gastronomy, beverages, and music. The musical part will begin at 9 AM with accordionist Marcelo Cigano. Later, at 11 AM, he will perform with singer Lucia Zorzi, who will also perform throughout the afternoon. The musical performances will conclude with Bê Lourenço at 3 PM.

Flavors of France is promoted by the Consulate General of France in São Paulo, in collaboration with the Alliance Française of São Paulo, and with support from the city hall through the municipal secretariats of Culture, Creative Economy, and International Relations.
