Transport Ministers Discuss Development of International Transport Corridors

Ministers of transport and representatives of international organizations held discussions on the directions for developing international transport corridors, increasing logistics efficiency, and implementing digital solutions.

Synchronization of Actions, Institutionalization, and Digitalization

The meeting of delegation heads, titled 'Synchronization of Actions, Institutionalization, and Digitalization,' took place within the framework of the 8th International Business Forum 'New Silk Road.' Participants included heads of transport departments, diplomatic corps representatives, and international organizations.

The main topics of discussion were the coordination of infrastructure development plans, reducing obstacles at state borders, and digitizing transport processes.

The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Ilhom Makhamov, emphasized that creating an effective transport system is impossible within the boundaries of a single country. He noted that increasing the region's competitiveness requires eliminating administrative barriers and unifying procedures for international transport.

Makhamov stated: 'Our common priority is to create truly seamless transit corridors by removing bureaucratic obstacles to the movement of goods. Only by harmonizing customs and transit procedures and integrating supply chains can we turn our region into a reliable and competitive bridge between global markets.'

After the meeting concluded, participants exchanged views on cooperation priorities in the transport sector and practical steps for the further development of international transport services. Discussions also focused on coordinating approaches and finding joint solutions to strengthen transport and logistics links between states.

According to the report, gold may set a new record by 2028 due to several factors

Significant movement has resumed around gold, and a new target indicator has emerged. The Financial Times report states that there is an increase in gold purchases by central banks, and the prices of gold, which is considered a safe haven from geopolitical tensions, rising government bonds, and economic fluctuations, could reach new record levels within the next two years.

There are four main reasons contributing to the rise in gold prices. According to the report, fund managers expect gold prices to rise in the medium and long term due to demand for safe investments and concerns related to government bonds and the weakening rupee. Central bank purchases of gold have also become an important factor influencing the future of this precious metal.

According to the Financial Times, on Wednesday, the price of gold rose by 2%, reaching $4075 per troy ounce. This occurred against the backdrop of investors assessing the probability of further interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve.

The support for gold from central bank purchases is confirmed by data from the World Gold Council. This data showed that in September, central banks acquired about 63 tonnes of gold, which is the highest monthly purchase since November 2024. These figures were compiled using data from the Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Following an initial price surge in January, when the value exceeded $5500 per ounce, there was a decline. Nevertheless, the price of the metal remains at historically high levels, and there is a possibility of setting a new record. From the perspective of the Indian market, gold prices could exceed 200,000 rupees per 10 grams.

Observations appeared when some stabilization occurred in the prices of gold and silver on the international market after a sharp sell-off earlier in the week. On Friday, October 16, gold futures on the COMEX traded at $4177.50 per ounce, showing a rise of 0.18%, while silver futures rose by 0.48% to $57.43 per ounce.

However, domestic gold prices faced pressure. On Thursday, the price of gold in New Delhi fell by 900 rupees to 149,000 rupees per 10 grams, marking the fourth consecutive day of decline. According to PTI, the price of silver decreased by 6000 rupees to 215,000 rupees per kilogram. Domestic prices were influenced by the strengthening rupee and reduced physical demand.

China plans to restrict exports of AI and biotechnology technologies

China is studying tightening control over the export of technologies considered strategic, encompassing artificial intelligence (AI) systems, biotechnology, and solar energy. This proposal, announced by the Chinese government this Friday, the 16th, establishes a ban on the export of 14 technology categories and restricts another 26.

The draft was formally presented by the Ministries of Commerce and Science and Technology. According to Reuters, this action covers a total of 40 technologies across the three mentioned sectors and occurs amid growing competition between Beijing and Washington for dominance in crucial areas of innovation.

Among the technologies subject to prohibition are AI tools capable of creating or altering malicious code, as well as models trained using sensitive and strategic Chinese data. Additionally, other AI-related technologies may also be subject to export limitations.

This initiative arises amidst the competition between China and the United States for the development and control of cutting-edge technologies. In recent months, both countries have exchanged accusations regarding the appropriation of capabilities from AI models created by competing companies.

Washington had already established controls on the transfer of strategic technologies to China, focusing particularly on the advanced semiconductor segment. In return, Beijing seeks to expand its oversight mechanisms over technologies developed within its territory.

As reported by Reuters, the Chinese project includes AI models, intelligent agents, and computing clusters, which are vital elements for both the development and operation of sophisticated systems. The Chinese government clarifies that this review is part of updating its export regulations and does not target any specific country, region, or entity.

The proposal was made available for public consultation for a period of one month, starting on October 16th, with the deadline for contributions set for November 15, 2026. It is important to note that the initiative is still in the proposal phase, meaning the foreseen controls should not be considered a definitive list of already implemented prohibitions.

In addition to reviewing the catalog, China has introduced provisional measures requiring prior registration for the export of these technologies. This new procedure intensifies governmental surveillance over the movement of these resources outside the country while the regulatory process continues.
