Mahindra launches its first CNG SUV, the XUV 3XO, with a claimed mileage of 24 km/L and enhanced safety

Mahindra has released its first vehicle running on gaseous fuel (CNG). The company, which had long avoided working with CNG, has finally introduced its first SUV on this fuel, opting for the most affordable model—the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG.

This vehicle was launched at a price of 9.99 lakh rupees, including exterior costs. The version with factory-fitted CNG is available in four XUV 3XO variants: MX Edge, RevX Edge (O), AX5, and RevX A. The most expensive variant of this model costs 12.27 lakh rupees, including exterior costs.

Mahindra utilized Twin Cylinder technology in this car. The claimed fuel consumption is 24.70 kilometers per kilogram. The SUV is equipped with dual digital displays, connected technologies, a sunroof, and numerous other features. The CNG variant will only be available with a manual transmission; an automatic transmission is not provided.

Direct competitors to the XUV 3XO CNG are the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG and the Tata Nexon CNG. The XUV 3XO CNG is fitted with a 1.2-liter turbocharged MPFI petrol engine that produces 110 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Mahindra claims that this vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 kilometers per hour in just 4.9 seconds.

The base MX Edge version is priced at 9.99 lakh rupees, including exterior costs. This configuration includes a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto, wired Apple CarPlay, and four speakers. Other standard features include cruise control, selectable steering modes, a rear-view camera, and rear air vents for air conditioning.

The SUV is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels and bi-halogen projector headlights. Additionally, the vehicle has 6 airbags, an electronic stability control system, Isofix child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors. If the expenses for this version are increased by more than 80 thousand rupees, one can choose the RevX Edge (O).

This version offers additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, electrically folding mirrors, automatic headlights, and an automatic wiper. It also includes keyless entry with a button, push-button start, and an adjustable driver's seat height. The exterior is distinguished by a two-tone roof, a gunmetal-colored grille, and black wheel caps. Black leather upholstery distinguishes the interior of this version from the base model.

This vehicle is Mahindra's most affordable model with both internal combustion engine and electric versions. The price ranges from 7.79 lakh to 15.04 lakh at the showroom. The car's main competitors are the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Hyundai Venue.

The vehicle is available with three engine options: 1.2-liter petrol, 1.2-liter TGDCI petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel. Furthermore, a CNG version is expected to be released on October 15, which will intensify competition with the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Thus, the company can attract consumers looking for a combination of SUV features and low running costs.
