Animal rights activists in Tashkent demand accountability for adults involved in child participation in animal cruelty against a cat

A video appeared on social media showing adults tying a rope around a cat's neck and handing the rope to a child. The recording shows that the animal is actively resisting and trying to get rid of the rope while the child pulls it.

This footage caused strong indignation among animal rights activists in Tashkent. Representatives of the Animal Life in Uzbekistan community appealed to law enforcement agencies, demanding an investigation into the incident and assigning legal responsibility to those involved.

The activists noted that the adults not only failed to prevent this incident but also allowed a child to be involved in the act of animal cruelty. In their opinion, such cases can negatively affect the formation of the correct attitude towards animals in children, as adults are responsible for teaching humane behavior.

The community strongly demanded that all circumstances of the event be investigated and that the possibility of holding violators accountable under Article 111 of the Code of Administrative Liability, which regulates issues of animal cruelty when there are legal grounds, be considered.

At the time of publication of this information, there was no official response from law enforcement agencies. Previously, another incident occurred in Tashkent when a cat was rescued in the metro at the 'Cosmonauts' station; metro employees took prompt action, and a technical assistance master from the tunnel structures service safely moved the animal off the tracks.
