iPhone Duo repairs could reach R$ 16.5 thousand in Brazil, according to Apple estimates

Apple has made cost estimates available on its support portal for the repair of the iPhone Duo, its foldable smartphone launch. Users who choose to repair the device after damage should be financially prepared, as the costs can be high.

Specifically, screen repairs range between R$ 3,329 and R$ 10,989. These values apply to services performed outside the standard warranty and without subscribing to AppleCare+.

The internal screen is cited as one of the most expensive components of the iPhone Duo, corresponding to almost half the initial price of the device, which starts at R$ 21,999 in Brazil.

The price table details various repair categories. The most expensive classification is 'other damages,' intended for problems that do not fit into the specific listed categories. Compared to other models, damage to the iPhone Duo's foldable screen can cost double the amount estimated by Samsung for repairing the screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which uses the same passport format; Samsung estimates this cost at around R$ 5,244.

It is important to emphasize that all presented values are mere estimates. The final repair cost will depend on the technical evaluation of the device, and each service provider has the autonomy to issue its own quotes.

In the United States, the AppleCare+ plan offers protection against accidental damage. For the iPhone Duo, this plan can be subscribed to for US$ 19.99 monthly (approximately R$ 100), US$ 199.99 annually (equivalent to R$ 1,019), or via a one-time payment of US$ 399 (R$ 2,033). According to MacMagazine, subscribing to this plan results in a notable reduction in the costs of certain repairs.

Although these plans are not officially available for purchase in Brazil, individuals who already have a policy purchased abroad can seek assistance through an authorized Apple network in the country.

The iPhone Duo was revealed in September, along with the iPhone 18 Pro line. Its features include a titanium structure, Ceramic Shield coating, a 5.4-inch external screen, and a 7.6-inch foldable OLED panel with a nanotexture finish.

Among the device's technological features are the A20 Pro chip, Touch ID integrated into the side button, a battery composed of two cells, and an iOS interface optimized for multitasking with side-by-side windows.

In the Brazilian market, the device starts selling from R$ 21,999 in the 256 GB storage version and reaches R$ 30,999 in the 2 TB configuration. National pre-sale is scheduled for the following day, October 16, with delivery expected from the 23rd.
