Uzbekistan and Croatia Agree to Expand Cooperation in Labor Migration

Uzbekistan and Croatia signed a bilateral document on labor market cooperation, agreeing to expand interaction in the field of workforce mobility.

The negotiations took place in Zagreb on October 15, 2026, following meetings between the Director of the Migration Service of Uzbekistan, Mukhsinhodjo Abdurakhmonov, and representatives of Croatian state institutions.

Details of Cooperation

Discussions focused on creating legal and safe employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens in Croatia through a government-to-government (G2G) cooperation mechanism.

As a first step, the parties proposed conducting a pilot selection of 50–100 specialists for work in the construction industry. Furthermore, they discussed the need to provide targeted professional and language training to candidates that meets the requirements of Croatian employers.

The possibility of opening a representative office of the Migration Service of Uzbekistan in Croatia was also considered. The proposed office could assist Uzbek citizens locally and contribute to protecting their labor rights.

The Croatian side considers Uzbekistan a promising partner in the construction sector and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the fields of engineering, medicine, and social care. The signed document lays the foundation for further partnership between the two countries regarding employment and organized recruitment of workers.
