University students experience the behind-the-scenes of the CBLOL 2026 final in a Riot Games project

More than 70 young people participated in a professional training program that allowed them to see behind the scenes of the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLOL) 2026 Grand Final. This event took place on October 8th and 9th at Arena Carioca 1, located in Rio de Janeiro.

The initiative is part of the first edition of FERJEE Academy, a project developed by the Rio de Janeiro State Federation of Electronic Sports (FERJEE) in collaboration with Riot Games. During the two days, participants were able to closely observe the preparation of a major esports event, accessing processes that are usually not visible to the public, whether in person or through broadcasts.

The program covered various crucial areas for the championship's organization, such as logistics, communication, technical operation, structure setup, and production management. The students also had the chance to interact with Riot Games professionals, who shared knowledge about the job market and the skills required in the esports industry.

A highlight of the experience was participating in the playtest, a testing phase conducted before the official event. At this time, teams check equipment functionality, server stability, and other vital technical aspects for holding matches and their broadcast.

Igor Corrêa, CBLOL Product Lead at Riot Games Brazil, emphasized that CBLOL transcends the function of a mere championship, configuring itself as an ecosystem that stimulates authentic connections. According to him, by exposing university students to the tournament's production, they are also offering League of Legends fans a clear view of the career opportunities available in the sector.

Miguel, a student from Univassouras, reported that knowing the event's infrastructure was fundamental to understanding how a production he used to follow only through television or the internet works, describing the experience as fantastic when seeing the transmission's backstage.

Marie Freire, president of FERJEE, stressed that the central objective of the project is to transform the behind-the-scenes of electronic sports into a space for free learning and closer connection with the job market. FERJEE Academy was designed to provide practical experiences to young adults interested in working with electronic sports.

In addition to areas directly related to competitions, the program offers professional perspectives in marketing, executive production, communication, and logistics. This initiative demonstrates that the esports market encompasses a vast network of specialists beyond athletes and competitive teams, requiring diverse knowledge to execute large-scale events.
