The market has seen many new opportunities for work through platforms such as Quick Commerce, ride-hailing, and home services, offered by companies like Zepto, Rapido, Snabbit, and Urban Company. However, it is crucial to understand the rules and conditions associated with working on these platforms, as ignorance of regulations can create difficulties for the worker.
Various agreements establish norms regarding platform worker qualifications, document verification, training, working hours, health, safety, conduct, fraud, use of customer data, and company property. Violation of these rules can lead to the suspension of the worker's account or immediate loss of access.
The worker must be at least 18 years old and have the right to enter into legally binding agreements. They must not have convictions for serious criminal offenses such as fraud, theft, violence, sexual crimes, or drug use, nor should there be any pending criminal cases against them.
The worker may be required to provide identification documents such as Aadhaar and PAN. A medical examination and vision test, along with a police check, may also be mandatory.
Before starting work, successful completion of a three-day practical training or a set schedule is required. To ensure safety, some platforms also limit the number of working days. For example, there may be a rule limiting work to a maximum of 12 hours per day with a mandatory 10-hour break afterward.
Workers are prohibited from logging in if they have infectious diseases or are feeling unwell. While working, wearing a helmet, adhering to speed limits, and following traffic rules are mandatory.
It is strictly forbidden to consume alcohol, tobacco, or any other narcotic substances before or during work. Creating fake or multiple accounts, manipulating GPS or phone settings, providing false information, and improper use of promotional programs are also prohibited.
The worker must behave respectfully towards customers and colleagues. Strict measures may be taken upon receiving a complaint about improper behavior or harassment.
Customer information, such as name, address, and phone number, must be used exclusively for order fulfillment. It is forbidden to use this information for any other purpose or share it with anyone.
Items provided by the company, such as T-shirts, jackets, or bags, may only be used for providing authorized services. Using the company's name or logo for other purposes is not permitted.
If a worker violates the rules, safety instructions, or terms, the platform may immediately terminate their access or suspend the account. Thus, platform workers are subject to rules covering age, legal standing, verification, training, working hours, health, safety, conduct, and data privacy; non-compliance with these standards may result in action from the platform.
