During the grand festival of Sharadiya Navratri dedicated to the goddess Durga, thousands of pilgrims flock to temples. It is known that the tallest Durga temple is located not only in India but worldwide, specifically in Begusarai.
This temple stands about 221 feet high and consists of approximately 11 floors. Here, the statue of the goddess is traditionally created in the same form for almost a hundred years. There is a belief that all wishes expressed here are granted.
According to accounts, this Durga temple in the village of Bihat, Begusarai, has existed for about 100 years. Previously, it was located in the village of Malhipur on the banks of the Ganges, but due to floods, it was moved to Bihat because this village is situated on an elevated area. Today, people travel from afar to visit this temple.
The construction of this temple, considered the tallest in the world, began in 2009 and was completed as the world's tallest Durga temple in 2014–2015. It is said that the worship of the goddess Durga began during the Muslim period under the representatives of the Rajputana clan from Rajasthan, and this tradition has continued since then.
The chief priest reported that in this sacred place, known as Siddha Peeth Badki Durga Mandir, Pindi Puja rituals have been conducted for years, and the statue of the goddess Durga in one form has been created here for about a hundred years. According to beliefs, all requests are fulfilled here, which is why pilgrims arrive not only from Bihar but also from various states of India for worship.
During Janmashtami, a grand aarti is organized in the temple for about ten days, where thousands of people gather in the evening holding lamps to participate in the aarti of the goddess Durga.
