State Post Office Program Allows Accumulation of 1 Crore Rupees Risk-Free

The Post Office offers various state savings programs for all age groups—children, seniors, youth, and women. These small savings schemes are highly popular due to the reliability of investments and the potential to earn significant profit from interest. Such programs can help turn depositors into millionaires by providing substantial income solely from interest.

One such program is the Public Provident Fund (PPF). These savings plans are considered among the best zero-risk schemes because the government guarantees the safety of any deposit, whether large or small. This allows investors to invest funds with peace of mind and receive high returns.

The PPF Scheme not only provides excellent long-term returns but also offers tax benefits. An investor can claim a tax deduction of up to 1.5 lakh rupees under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act. This PPF scheme adheres to the EEE principle (Exempt from tax on contribution, interest, and maturity amount), meaning all earnings remain completely tax-free.

Investment in PPF can start with a minimum amount of 500 rupees. The government offers an attractive annual interest rate of 7.1%. The PPF maturity period is 15 years, but it can be extended in five-year periods to accumulate a larger sum. A lump-sum contribution of up to 1.50 lakh rupees can be made within one financial year.

The calculation showing how to accumulate a fund of 1 crore rupees through the Post Office's PPF scheme is quite simple. This can be achieved by utilizing two extension periods after the maturity date. An application must be submitted within one year after the maturity period ends. If 1.5 lakh rupees are invested over 15 years, the amount at maturity will be 22.50 lakh rupees, and including interest, the total fund will reach 40,68,209 rupees. With the investment extended for two periods, i.e., 25 years, the accumulated amount will be 27.50 lakh rupees, and the total fund will grow to 1,03,08,015 rupees, signifying millionaire status.

Thanks to the high interest rates provided by the government on Public Provident Fund deposits, a substantial amount accumulates over a long period. Considering the income derived exclusively from interest, it can be seen that with an annual investment of 1.50 lakh rupees over 15 years, 18.18 lakh rupees will be earned as interest income from the total maturity amount of 44,68,209 rupees. And after 25 years, more than 65.58 lakh rupees out of the 1 crore rupee sum will constitute income earned solely from interest.
