On October 8th, employees of the company 'Listee' presented journalists and bloggers with a report on the completion of the test launch of their namesake project in Tashkent. The resale platform 'Listee' was introduced by IT entrepreneur Vitaly Tumanov, its founder.
The 'Listee' platform has been operating in Uzbekistan since August 4th. Following eighty days of operation in test mode, the project showed positive results, which met the developers' expectations. Initially, the service was conceived as a safe and convenient alternative to C2C trading, which is widely prevalent in Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries.
Vitaly Tumanov's team aimed to create a service that would allow users to easily buy and list items for sale while minimizing the risk of encountering scammers. To achieve this goal, advanced digital technologies, including artificial intelligence for generating listings and personalizing recommendations, were actively applied during the development of 'Listee,' alongside ensuring high security through transaction monitoring and the involvement of intermediaries.
Data presented at the event indicates significant interest from online users in Uzbekistan towards the platform. Residents of Tashkent aged 25 to 34 were the most active, having made the highest number of purchases across various product categories over the 80 days. Although older users were more reserved, they also demonstrated activity in specific segments, such as children's goods and household appliances, comparable to younger demographics.
'Listee' data analysis revealed that the most sought-after items are clothing and electronics (27% of the total volume), repair goods (17%), and children's products (16%). Among sellers, every registered user posted at least two listings. Clothing and footwear led the number of sellers (48%), followed by cosmetics (28%), and then electronics and home goods (22%). The enhanced transaction protection promised by 'Listee' creators received a positive response from users.
Transaction safety is guaranteed by the project team and partner intermediaries at all stages. Communication between buyers and sellers is restricted to the application's internal interface, which prevents the disclosure of personal contacts. Payments are also processed through the application, and delivery is handled through partner pickup points.
A rating system serves as an additional tool to aid in selection, taking into account not only general metrics but also details such as transaction speed and listing quality. Vitaly Tumanov himself expressed satisfaction with the results of the test period, seeing great potential in the platform. He stated that the first 80 days confirmed the interest in resale in Uzbekistan, as users began listing items and concluding deals through the platform. The 'Listee' team intends to continue developing the project in collaboration with local specialists.
The successful start in Uzbekistan is viewed only as the beginning: 'Listee's' team plans to expand its presence across Central Asia, followed by entering the markets of Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Meanwhile, the analysis of Uzbek user behavior will continue and be taken into account in the further evolution of the application.
