Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai announced the opening of 38 new establishments

Despite discussions on social media about a potential decline at Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai, new data provided by the managing company Dubai Retail refutes these concerns. The launch of 38 new businesses in the retail, food and beverage, and entertainment sectors has been announced as part of a comprehensive redevelopment strategy aimed at expanding the mall's offerings.

Of these 38 new establishments, 21 are already operational, while the remaining 17 are scheduled to open by the end of 2027. These announcements came after videos circulating online showed quieter areas in the mall, leading some visitors to speculate about declining foot traffic.

Dubai Retail did not comment on questions from Khaleej Times regarding the social media claims; however, the latest figures provide necessary context for the online discussions. According to Dubai Retail, Ibn Battuta Mall, which opened in 2005, attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors monthly.

The center is named after a famous 14th-century explorer and features six architecturally designed courtyards, each inspired by the journeys of this pioneer. Currently, over 350 businesses operate within the mall.

New Restaurants and Cafes

Several dining establishments have already opened, including Five Guys, Jimmy John's Sandwiches, Marugame Udon, Caribou Coffee, Halla Shawarma, Zaika, and Butter & Bread. Planned openings also include brands such as Peet's Coffee, Ocean Basket, Asia Kitchen, and Smoothie Factory.

New Cinemas and Family Entertainment

One of the most significant future additions will be Roxy Cinemas, which will bring a new cinema to Ibn Battuta Mall. Hopa Loompa Entertainment is also planned to open as a new family leisure spot. Recent entertainment additions mentioned include Zamania by Leo & Loona and Like Bricks, while Toy Station is preparing for its launch.

Additions in Fashion and Retail

Recent retail openings include Jack & Jones, Anta, Tanishq, Magrabi, Mumuso, and Suit Sartoria. OWNDAYS and Puzzle Supplements are set to open soon, with further planned additions including Chemist Warehouse, Midi, My Shops, and Cantata.

The tenant mix is also expanding beyond traditional retail and dining. The center reported that new and upcoming businesses covering banking, healthcare, education, and professional services include ADCB, Amit Care, Doctor M, Melodica, and Desco Copy & Print Centre.

Dubai Retail noted that residential development around Ibn Battuta Mall over the past decade has attracted a broader and more diverse customer base. The company emphasized that the 38 new and forthcoming establishments will strengthen the combination of place-based experiences and everyday convenience for surrounding communities.
