Martin Taylor, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in China, stated in an interview with CGTN's Health Talk that China has made 'great progress' in improving public health, expanding healthcare coverage, and strengthening public health services.
He added that the average life expectancy in China has exceeded 79 years, and basic health insurance covers over 95% of the country's population.
Taylor advised China to continue strengthening primary healthcare while encouraging citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles. He emphasized that these steps are becoming increasingly relevant amid China's fight against chronic diseases and population aging.
Furthermore, Taylor highlighted the potential for integrating technologies such as artificial intelligence into healthcare system planning to improve and expand access to medical services.
He reported that the WHO will continue to cooperate with China in implementing the 'Healthy China 2030' program and maintain interaction with other countries, especially through South-South cooperation.
