The installation titled RESONANCE, part of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale, was developed by the design team Aru Ma- Architects. This work stands out for offering a protected courtyard, isolated from the urban environment of Tallinn, which is undergoing intense commercialization, thus providing an intentional pause.
In this space, the sea breeze interacts with immobile stones, while sunlight penetrates through the wide and welcoming curves made of plywood panels. It is a spatially meticulous refuge designed from simple materials, serving to filter external hustle in favor of purely sensory luxury.
The overall concept of the installation is supported by a solid wooden structure, conceived from the beginning to anchor the architecture in an organic feeling, lending elegance to the shaping of the space.
A complex system of ropes connects these wooden walls to the center of the piece, reminiscent of the strings of a large musical instrument. Within this tension mesh, the weight of the limestone accumulated in the central gabion provides the essential gravity.
This vertical force compresses the ropes, ensuring complete structural stability. The core of the installation assumes a geometric shape similar to an obelisk, functioning as the main structural element of this extensive architectural apparatus.
The proposed experience evokes the sensation of being immersed in the body of a stringed instrument. In this context, the concept of 'Bougie' is redefined as the pleasure of intensified perception. Visitors are invited to enter, sit in silence, and integrate this resonant sanctuary, where the unstable winds of the Baltic, fleeting light, and tectonic elements naturally converge.
