Tabo Sele has found a new beginning at Mamelodi Sundowns, winning two championship medals within a month following a difficult spell at Kaizer Chiefs.
The midfielder joined the Sundowns squad, which secured victories over Al Ahli Saudi in the Africa Cup and the Asia Pacific Cup in September. He subsequently made his debut in a match that ended with a 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
For Sele, this quick return to trophies was a welcome reward after a challenging period in his professional career. He noted: 'It is a blessing because it is something rare, and having joined the club recently, winning these two trophies is very important for me and for us as new players helping the club rise.'
Sele's arrival at Sundowns followed an unsuccessful period at Chiefs, where his time with the club did not yield the desired results. However, the 29-year-old footballer decided to focus on the future rather than dwelling on disappointment, viewing his experience as another challenge to overcome.
He added: 'For me, football is like life; there will always be difficulties, and you have to overcome them. Having gone through what I experienced, I am simply trying to move forward and think about what awaits me next, and the next thing for me was a club like Sundowns.'
The midfielder's start in Chloorkop brought him immediate success, as Sundowns continues to compete for domestic and continental honors. His appearance against Pirates also marked a significant personal achievement, as he debuted for the club in a final where Sundowns managed to secure yet another title, denying rivals their fifth consecutive crown.
While two medals in such a short time provide an encouraging start, Sele now aims to establish himself in the star lineup of Sundowns and turn his new beginning into a sustained series of successful performances. For now, the midfielder can celebrate an outstanding first month at the new club, which has already delivered two trophies and revived optimism after a difficult chapter at Chiefs.
