In Medichal-Malkajgiri, Telangana state, a two-year-old girl named Misha passed away after consuming a toxic chemical substance—cyanide. Initially, the child's condition worsened, after which she was taken to a private hospital where she died during treatment.
The deceased was identified as Misha, the two-year-old daughter of Gopi Krishna and Janki from Chintala. She went with her parents to the 'Vishnu Jewellers' store near the cheap market. While the parents were looking at jewelry inside the store, the child went outside while playing.
Outside the store, the girl picked up a package containing a poisonous chemical used in jewelry work. She accidentally put it in her mouth, and shortly thereafter, her condition began to deteriorate rapidly.
Following the incident, outraged relatives and acquaintances staged mass protests in front of 'Vishnu Jewellers'. The family leveled serious accusations against the store management regarding gross negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible. Relatives claim that the dangerous chemical was left open in a place accessible to children.
Subsequently, they approached the Jidimetla police demanding an investigation. Based on the relatives' complaint, the police registered a case of death due to negligence against the owner of the store, Vishnu, and employee Venkatachary in accordance with Section 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS).
The girl's funeral took place in her native village of Madira. Currently, the procedure of exhuming the body is underway to conduct an autopsy and definitively determine the true cause of death. The police stated that further legal steps will be taken based on the autopsy results and collected evidence.
