The launch of a McCain Foods project worth 380 billion rupees is planned in the Agar-Mawla region of Madhya Pradesh state. This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during a virtual dialogue at the Balram Krishi festival. He specified that this project could potentially provide employment for about 2000 people. Furthermore, emphasis was placed on stimulating the potato processing, livestock, and organic farming industries in the region.
During a video conference with farmers, Mohan Yadav presented information on planned industrial projects, agricultural innovations, and government programs aimed at increasing farmers' incomes in Agar-Mawla. The Prime Minister stressed that the food industry and livestock can play a key role in boosting farmers' income alongside agriculture.
Mohan Yadav also stated that a potato processing plant worth 200 billion rupees will be established in Laluhari, which is part of the Agar-Mawla district. According to him, this should promote potato cultivation in the area. Farmers in Agar-Mawla will be able to participate in potato production through this local food processing sector.
Discussing farmer procurement, Mohan Yadav announced that wheat will be purchased at a price of 2700 rupees per quintal by 2027. He noted that efforts are underway to improve conditions in the agricultural sector and increase production, including ensuring water for irrigation, electricity, and road networks in the state.
Oranges and Livestock of Agar
The Prime Minister mentioned that oranges from Agar and Susner are exported across the country. He also linked the district's identity to livestock and animal husbandry. It was noted that there are prospects for organic milk production in Agar, and the Saanchi Milk brand is expanding throughout the state. Additionally, the region shows potential opportunities in solar and wind energy, which could strengthen the local economy by supporting agriculture and related industries.
Dr. Yadav reported that more than 20 thousand head of cattle are housed in the Gau sanctuary and other slaughterhouses in the city of Agar. The government provides funds for the care of each animal amounting to 40 rupees per day. A program to encourage livestock breeders was also presented. Under this program, the best livestock breeders in each development block will be awarded: first prize—1 lakh rupees, second—50 thousand rupees, and third—25 thousand rupees. The goal of this initiative is to encourage livestock breeders to improve animal husbandry and develop additional sources of income in rural areas.
During the Balram Krishi festival, Mohan Yadav held a virtual dialogue with progressive farmers such as Radheshyam Parihar, who practices natural and organic farming in Bainaigha and Baraud, and Rohit Sharma, a producer of natural peanuts in Akhaheri and Tanodia. He requested information from them regarding their farming methods, production volume, and the advantages of organic and natural farming. Special emphasis in the event was placed on promoting agricultural innovations and increasing farmers' incomes.
Although the McCain Foods project and the potato processing plant in Agar-Mawla may increase investment opportunities in the food industry sector, the exact start dates of the projects, construction status, and employment details will be clarified in official project documents.
